On February 3rd, 2014, Reuters released a story that US Department of Transportation (DOT) officials are pushing for connected vehicle mandate by 2017. As it seems with all proposed rules, these will be big ideas with difficult deadlines and unclear guidelines. Nonetheless, José Morales-Fernández with Milligan Partners states, “the vehicle-to-vehicle mandate means much more than safety and data exchange. It will be the intelligent interaction between cars and infrastructures. It will lead to a new set of real time data that may help to operate the roads in a more efficient way.”
